Hi,
I contacted ******@usace.army.mil and below was their reply
(Notes from me when downloading SI v5.7: you have to use chrome or Firefox to download the new program, Edge isn't doing it right. When opening the program you need to right click and ‘run as administrator’ from there it’s just follow the directions.)
ATTENTION: If you are using SpecsIntact v5.x through v5.6, we highly recommend upgrading to SI v5.7 before applying the updates below. While these DLLs will be included in the upcoming v5.8 release (early 2027), upgrading to v5.7 now will ensure you don't have to repeat these steps later.
Here is the actual fix (not just a workaround):
Install Updated SpecsIntact DLL Files: Download the DLL files and follow the instructions below; this may require elevated privileges or assistance from your IT Administrator.
Note: So far, the identified Windows updates for our DoD customers haven’t been installed. However, the USACE-Huntsville team is actively coordinating this effort with the tri-services to provide an alternate solution.
To update the SpecsIntact DLL Files:
1. Close SpecsIntact (both the SpecsIntact Explorer and SI Editor)
2. Download the file https://www.wbdg.org/tools/specsintact/SI580240ResolvePDFErrorBin.zip.
3. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the Downloads folder, then extract and rename the files to use the .dll file extension (e.g., SIGrid.dll and PrntJob32.dll).
NOTE: When renaming each file, you will be prompted, ‘If you change a file name extension, the file might become unusable’; click YES. Microsoft Defender may display a Windows Security message indicating that a security scan is required; click Dismiss for each file.
4. Once the files have been extracted and renamed, copy them to the C:\Program Files (x86)\SpecsIntact 5 folder.
NOTE: This step may require elevated privileges. When you receive the ‘Destination folder Access Denied’ message, click Continue. If you are unable to update the files, then contact your system administrator to complete the process by updating the C:\Program Files (x86)\SpecsIntact 5 folder.
If you are running the SI Lite version of SpecsIntact on your system, copy the .dll files into the SI Lite folder usually found under your C:\Users\UserID\Documents folder (e.g. SI Lite or SpecsIntact 5).
5. Open SpecsIntact and Publish your Job to PDF.
Temporary suggested workarounds:
- Dismiss Error Message: Manually click through each ‘Parameter is incorrect’ error message as it appears during PDF publishing to complete the process. The resulting PDFs are functional. Please keep in mind that the initial bookmarks will be hidden in the published PDFs.
- Uninstall and Pause Windows Updates: Contact your IT Administrator to uninstall update packages KB121767 and KB121003 and pause future updates until we release SI v5.8. Because other recent patches may be contributing to the issue, IT may need to uninstall the latest updates applied to your system.
