- Check whether the touchpad was disabled by a keyboard shortcut. On some laptops, a function key with a touchpad icon can turn it on or off. Try the touchpad key by itself, or
Fnplus that key. - Update the touchpad driver first.
- Open Start and search for Check for updates.
- Go to Windows Update and select Check for updates.
- Install any available driver updates.
- If that does not help, use Device Manager to update or reinstall the touchpad device.
- Search for Device Manager from Start.
- Look for the touchpad under Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices.
- If it appears, open it and update the driver.
- If updating does not fix it, uninstall the device and restart Windows so the driver can be reinstalled.
- If the touchpad is missing from Device Manager or is behaving like a basic mouse, install Lenovo’s model-specific drivers from the Lenovo support page for the Slim 7i.
- Install the chipset / Serial-IO driver first.
- Restart.
- Then install the touchpad driver.
- Restart again. This matches cases where Windows falls back to a basic HID mouse driver and touch gestures or cursor control stop working.
- If the device still does not respond, test with an external mouse if available. If the touchpad still fails after driver update and reinstall, contact the device manufacturer for hardware-specific help.
How to get touchpad/trackpad working on Lenovo Slim 7i? (Windows 11)
Unable to use the touchpad to make the cursor move, and the cursor isn't visible at all (despite my settings saying it should be). It's as if the cursor just isn't there. I changed my settings so that when I press Ctrl it shows me the position of my cursor, but using the touchpad doesn't change its location at all, nor am I able to interact with anything else using the touchpad. Despite this, I am still able to interact with things by using the touchscreen features. There is no option that I've found to turn off/on the touchpad in settings.

When was the last time you were able to use the touchpad?
Have you tried restarting the laptop?
Have you tried a hard reset?
Turn off the laptop. Unplug the charger. Remove all USB devices. If the battery is removable → remove the battery. Press and hold the Power button for 30–60 seconds. Reinsert the battery (if removed). Plug in the charger. Turn the laptop on.
