I've inserted an automatic TOC. I customized the TOC to only use H2 for the TOC1, but the "Save selection to table of contents gallery" option is grayed out. I even opened a new document, adjusted the TOC again and still the save selection is grayed out. I've also tried the alt+9 option and no field codes show up.

Hi @KCameron

Can you please try selecting the whole TOC including the Contents part and check if the option can be selected?

If the issue persists, check whether the document is protected, restricted, or opened as read-only by going to Review > Restrict Editing and looking for any Protected View or Read-Only indicators, as these can disable ribbon commands.
