Hello,
Can we use Edge server as SMTP relay solution with port 587 and with username and password authentication?
No exchange server in the environment. Edge server will be built in a workgroup environment.

From what I have checked so far, it looks like this might be possible in certain configurations. However, this is a more advanced Edge Transport/mail-flow setup, especially since there is no Exchange server in the environment and the Edge server will be built in a workgroup.
You could refer to this article : Install Exchange Edge Transport servers using the Setup wizard | Microsoft Learn
Please also note that Edge Transport does not host mailboxes, and without an Exchange organization or Active Directory, user-based SMTP authentication is not managed in the same way as a normal Exchange environment.
Since this setup goes beyond my current knowledge, I would recommend posting the question in the Microsoft Tech Community Exchange forum for more accurate guidance from Exchange Server experts.
