+Unable to access personal vault on android device

Have tried a number of things to remedy. Personal vault works fine on my pc and laptop but on android A54 phone it does not show any vault files. It only says "Tap to add files" and then shows various identity options to scan. I did scan a couple and they did synch to my pc and laptop. But again on android phone it only asks me to tap to add, won't show the scanned file or any files in personal vault. All devices are using same wi-fi and I've tried forced stops on app, checked "time stamp" on android device compared to pc to verify they are the same. What have I overlooked?

Thanks

    Hi, The Uzelmans Uzelman's

Since the files are visible on your PCs and newly scanned items upload successfully, the files are still in the cloud. This points to the Android app keeping an incorrect Personal Vault setup or cached account session.

Besides the solutions provided by the Q&A Assist, here are some suggestions you can try:

First, open OneDrive.com in your phone’s browser and confirm the vault files appear there. Personal Vault is designed to be accessible through the web, Windows, and the mobile app.

In the OneDrive app, select your profile picture, open Settings, select the account, and sign out. Restart the phone, then sign in again with the exact same personal Microsoft account used on the PCs.

If it remains empty, open Android Settings > Apps > OneDrive > Storage, then select Clear cache and Clear data. This resets only the app’s local information, not files stored online. It is recommended that you confirm important files at OneDrive.com first.

Update OneDrive from Google Play. If already current, uninstall and reinstall it, then set up Personal Vault again. Signing out or clearing the app data has resolved this specific empty-vault behavior on Android devices.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.

What has likely been overlooked is that the Android app may not have finished syncing Personal Vault content yet, even though the rest of OneDrive is working and new scans are uploading.

    Try this end-to-end path:

    1. In the OneDrive Android app, open Personal Vault and unlock it.
    2. Make sure any files recently added to Personal Vault are fully closed on other devices.
    3. Wait for sync to complete before checking the Android view again. If there are larger files, this can take longer.
    4. On Android, open profile picture/icon > Settings > Personal Vault > Auto-lock or Inactivity lock, and increase the lock duration so the vault does not relock before sync finishes.
    5. Check again inside Personal Vault after sync completes.

Relevant behavior to keep in mind:

    • On mobile, Personal Vault appears in the folder list.
    • Personal Vault items do not appear in search results.
    • Personal Vault on mobile automatically locks after 3 minutes of inactivity by default, but that duration can be changed.
    • If the app asks to set up Personal Vault on a new Android device, that setup connects the device to the existing vault; it does not create a separate vault.

If the Android app still only shows Tap to add files after waiting for sync to finish, this matches a reported mobile app behavior where the vault may refresh improperly at first and then start working again after more time.
