Problem Description
Scenario: We currently have our application deployed in an existing Azure tenant. The application is hosted using Azure Static Web Apps, and the custom domain onlineug.egradtutor.in is currently mapped to the existing Static Web App.
Requirement: We are migrating the complete application to a new Azure tenant and need to map the existing custom domain onlineug.egradtutor.in to the new Static Web App.
Issue: As part of the migration, we need to first remove the existing custom-domain association from the old Static Web App and then update the DNS records in GoDaddy to point to the new Static Web App.
However, when attempting to delete the custom domain from the old Static Web App, the operation fails with the following error:
ResourceOperationFailure
The custom domain deletion has been attempted multiple times through:
Azure Portal
Azure CLI (az staticwebapp hostname delete)
Azure Resource Manager REST API
However, the custom domain is still associated with the old Static Web App and cannot be fully removed.
This issue has been ongoing for more than 24 hours.
Because the custom domain is still associated with the old Static Web App, we are unable to successfully bind onlineug.egradtutor.in to the new Static Web App. Azure Static Web Apps requires the existing custom-domain association to be fully removed before the domain can be bound to another resource.
Request
Could the Azure Static Web Apps Support/Product Engineering team please investigate the current state of this custom-domain resource and help us fully remove/unbind the existing custom-domain association from the old Static Web App?
The deletion operation continues to fail with ResourceOperationFailure despite repeated attempts through the Azure Portal, Azure CLI, and Azure Resource Manager REST API.
Could you please verify whether the custom-domain resource is stuck in the Azure control plane/backend and, if necessary, manually clear the existing custom-domain binding so that it can be associated with the new Static Web App?
Details
Custom Domain: onlineug.egradtutor.in
Old Static Web App: tgfrontend-staging
Resource Group: Test-generator-rg
Environment: Production
Issue Duration: More than 24 hours
Error: ResourceOperationFailure
I can provide the subscription ID, resource ID, correlation IDs, Activity Log entries, CLI/REST API responses, and screenshots privately if required.
The immediate requirement is to release the existing custom-domain binding so that the domain can be mapped to the new Static Web App.
Thank you.
