If the document was scanned with the Windows Scan app, check these locations first:
- Open File Explorer.
- Go to the folder that was selected in the Save file to setting in the Scan app.
- If no save location was selected, look in Pictures\Scans in the user folder. That is the default save location.
If the file still is not visible:
- In File Explorer, select This PC.
- In the Search This PC box at the top right, enter the file name if known.
- If the name is not known, search by file type such as
*.jpg,*.png,*.tiff, or*.bmpdepending on how it was scanned.
If the scan was done with the Windows Camera app instead:
- Open the Camera app.
- Check the Camera roll thumbnail at the bottom right.
- Select the thumbnail, then use the ellipsis menu and choose Open Folder to go directly to the saved file.
If search still does not find it, run the Windows Search troubleshooter:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Privacy & security > Search.
- Select Advanced indexing options.
- Select Advanced.
- Under Index Settings, select Troubleshoot search and indexing.
