I just had a lengthy chat. I need to see it again to write down the case number and be certain I have it correct.

Hi Bobby B,

I understand you’re trying to confirm the reference number from your recent support chat, especially after such a lengthy conversation. Since this is a public user-to-user forum, I don’t have access to Microsoft Support records and cannot reopen or retrieve private chat sessions from here.

Do you remember whether you started the conversation through the Get Help app or the Microsoft Support website? Also, were you signed in to your Microsoft account during the chat?

If the chat window has already been closed and you cannot retrieve the conversation, please contact Microsoft Support again using the same account. Then select Request History to check whether the previous support request and its reference number are listed there. Let the new support agent know the details of the previous chat, along with the issue you discussed to check whether the earlier request can be located and you can confirm the correct reference number.

For your privacy, please do not post the case number, email address, or any other account details publicly in this thread. Thank you so much for your understanding.

    Check these places:

    1. Support request history
      • If this was a Microsoft Support chat tied to a personal Microsoft account, sign in and check Request History / Service requests on the support site.
      • One documented path is: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contactRequest History → sign in → check the case number under Service requests.
    2. Email inbox
      • Check the inbox for the account used in the chat. A confirmation or transcript email may include the case number.
      • Search for terms like Microsoft Support, Case ID, Support Request, or transcript.
    3. Saved/downloaded transcript
      • If the transcript was saved manually, check Downloads, Documents, or search the PC for terms like Microsoft, support, or transcript.
    4. If the case is not visible
      • Contact Microsoft Support again and provide details such as the approximate date and the issue discussed so the case can be located.
