How do you remove a tag / mention from a post in Viva Engage?

Hi, did anyone manage to find the solution to this.

We have a user that posted on Viva engage and tagged a few people. We want to remove tag for one person but it doesnt let us.

i found this post from 2024 and was wondering if anyone found a solution to it not a workaround.

If the person is being @mentioned in the actual post text, I would first try editing the original post and deleting that person’s mention from the text, then saving the edit.

However, if by “tag” you mean a topic/tag attached to the post, that is different from an @mention. Viva Engage has separate functionality for topics, and the permissions for modifying them can depend on the user's role.

If the edit screen allows you to add another mention but doesn't let you remove the existing one, that sounds like the same limitation reported in the earlier thread rather than a normal editing workflow. I wouldn't recommend deleting and reposting unless necessary, especially if the post already has replies or engagement.

I'd also check whether the user is the original author and whether the behavior is the same in the current Viva Engage web interface versus Teams. If it still won't remove an existing @mention, it may need to be treated as a product limitation/bug and raised with Microsoft support rather than trying to work around it.
