Xbox family group issues
Hello, I am in a Microsoft family group with myself and nobody else as a child. I cannot leave it or change anything, I am unable to chat with friends on games such as Minecraft because I cannot change the privacy settings or leave the Xbox family group. As a child how do I leave the family group?

Adding another parent account may not help because only the adult account that originally granted consent can manage or remove that consent.
First, try to recover the original parent/organizer account:
- Start with the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper.
- If Microsoft directs you to the recovery form, complete the Microsoft Account Recovery Form.
- After recovering the account, sign in to Manage parental consent, remove consent for the child account, and then remove the account from the family group.
Only use the birth-date route if the date of birth on the affected account is genuinely incorrect. Follow Microsoft’s official birth-date correction process. If consent already exists, the adult account that originally granted consent must sign in and select Edit this child’s personal info.

Microsoft specifically says that removing parental consent can allow a child account to be removed from the Family group.
If the account is incorrectly classified as a child because the date of birth on the Microsoft account is wrong, that's a different situation. Microsoft has a process for correcting an account whose birthdate indicates the user is underage.
