Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
If the message is being blocked before it reaches the mailbox, it will not appear in Inbox, Junk, or Deleted Items, and a local unblock in Outlook may not fix it.
For Outlook.com or new Outlook, these are the supported checks:
- Open Settings > Mail > Junk email.
- Check Blocked senders or Blocked senders and domains and remove the sender or domain if it appears there.
- Add that sender or domain to Safe senders and domains so messages are less likely to go to Junk.
- Check the Junk Email folder for any past messages and mark them as Not Junk if found.
If the sender is still not getting through and nothing appears in Junk, the message is likely being rejected before delivery. In that case:
- Ask the sender whether they receive a non-delivery report.
- If they do, the sender needs to correct the sending-side issue.
- One documented example is a rejection caused by sender authentication problems such as SPF-related failures.
For spam that keeps reaching the Inbox, blocking does not stop delivery to the account; it moves matching mail to Junk Email. If needed, create a rule based on sender or subject to move or delete those messages.
