We got an email with title: "Azure AI Document Intelligence v2.0 API will be retired on 31 August 2026"

Questions:

Does it mean that the retirement of V2 on August 31st in only in Pre-Prod? At least only applies to the specific subscription?
We found that we still have few customers with V2 in production, potentially in GOV as well. Are there planned retirement dates for production and GCC?

I can see why you’re asking retirement notices can be confusing, especially when customers have existing production usage.

No. The 31 August 2026 retirement is based on the Document Intelligence v2.0 API version, not on whether the workload is pre-production or production. Any commercial Azure workload calling v2.0 should be migrated before that date. The subscription shown in the email identifies where affected usage was detected; it does not limit the retirement to that subscription.

For Azure Government, do not automatically assume the commercial-cloud date applies. GCC is a Microsoft 365 designation and does not by itself identify the Azure cloud hosting the resource. Current public documentation lists v2.1 end of support as 15 September 2027, but does not clearly confirm a Government-specific retirement date for v2.0. Confirm the affected API version and cloud endpoint, then use an Azure support request or the resource’s Service Health notice for authoritative sovereign-cloud guidance.

Microsoft recommends migrating to the latest GA v4.0 ( 2024-11-30 ) API.
