I am an adult Microsoft Family Safety is incorrectly blocking websites on my Windows PC. when I try to open certain websites , I get the message: "you need to ask to use this site." My Microsoft Family shoes onley me in the family. I have already disabled the parental controls service and refreshed the Family Safety task, but the websites are still being blocked. Microsoft Support reviewed my account and referred me to family safety support team here.

Please help me completely remove the Family safety /parental restriction from my adult Microsoft account and Widows PC.

    If the account is an adult and websites are still blocked, use the supported reset path for both the account state and the device state:

    1. Check whether the account is still in a Family group.
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/family and sign in.
      • If no family members appear, the account is not currently in a family group.
      • If a family is listed, the account was previously added and restrictions can still apply.
    2. If the account is still in a family group as an adult member, only the family organizer can turn off the safety settings applied to that account.
      • Adult members cannot disable those settings themselves.
      • The organizer must disable the safety configurations for the account.
    3. If the account is not part of a family group, run the Windows safety reset on each affected PC:
      • Press Windows + R.
      • Type cmd and select OK.
      • Run:
             schtasks /run /tn "Microsoft\Windows\Shell\FamilySafetyRefreshTask"

      • Restart the computer.
      • This must be done on every impacted device.
    4. If the account is incorrectly treated as a child because of the birth date on the Microsoft account, correct the birth date using the adult flow in How to change a birth date on a Microsoft account under I'm an adult, but Microsoft thinks I'm a child.
    5. If web filtering is still active because Family Safety web filters were configured before, note the product behavior:
      • Web and search filters work only when signed into Microsoft Edge with the Microsoft account.
      • Family Safety web filtering blocks mature sites and filters searches in Bing.
      • If Filter inappropriate websites or Filter inappropriate websites and searches is enabled for a family member, those restrictions apply through Edge.
    6. If limits or blocks appear stuck, remove and re-add limits only if the account is still intentionally managed in Family Safety.
      • This is a supported troubleshooting step for limits and blocks not working.
      • It does not apply if the goal is to fully remove Family Safety from an adult account that should not be managed.

    For complete removal in this scenario, the supported path is:

    • ensure the account is not in a family group, or have the organizer remove the safety settings if it is still a member account;
    • run the FamilySafetyRefreshTask reset on each affected Windows device;
    • restart each device;
    • verify the Microsoft account birth date is correct if the account is being treated as a child.
