Locked out of GroupMe for a week.

I have contacted the chat for Groupme twice, waiting days between logins, and still cannot access my GroupMe account. I am locked out because my son tried to create an account with my phone number and I already had an account with my phone number. I have now been locked out and unable to use my account. Using the chat feature has been no help at all. They just tell me to wait and give it time, but it has been a week and I still cannot access my account. #lockedoutofGroupMe

    Hi Christy Smith

I’m sorry you’ve been unable to access your account for a week, especially after contacting GroupMe Support twice.

A phone number can only be linked to one GroupMe account, so your son’s registration attempt may have caused a conflict with your existing account

    Please try the following:

    1. Update GroupMe, fully close and reopen the app, then try signing in through the GroupMe website.
    2. Use the GroupMe password reset page with the phone number or email address connected to your original account.
    3. If access still fails, contact GroupMe Support again and provide your existing support case number, phone number, associated email address, and the exact error message. Mention clearly that the number already belonged to your original account before the second registration attempt.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, are not allowed to directly interfere with Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Thank you for your understanding and hope you have a good day
