I grew up with computers and I've always considered myself at least somewhat tech savvy...but as I've gotten older I'm finding that I don't know much about computers at all...asides from doing the basic things like surfing the web, email, etc. I want to go deeper.
I want to really learn about this powerful machine that I have, but I can't figure out a safe way to do so.
Why isn't there a Windows 11 User Manual available online hosted by Microsoft? I have no idea how to use this thing beyond completely surface use and the last two times I've tried to dive a little deeper I've broken my laptop(s) (with the help of Google's advice that I stupidly took blindly...ie deleting my operating system...).
I have been searching for a class online, but haven't found anything that quite fits what I'm after. All that I can find are extremely basic classes (basically how to click a mouse...) or way more complex than I need (like how to manage a fleet of 1,000's of computers).
I am one person. I have one laptop. (Well two...but one is still broken...). I would like to learn how to really use this thing.
I'd like to understand how to optimize my settings for performance, how to safely create a backup, and I really want to understand what all of these weird files and options are for without breaking things. I'd like to be able to use the command line and the run thingy.
Yes, I see there are tons of things posted online for how to do what I'm wanting to do...I don't trust a lot of it after the last 2 things I tried broke my computer...and a lot of what is there is not current. I want up to date real time information. It does me no good to learn how to use Windows 11 how it functioned 3 years ago - I need to learn how to use it now, as it is.

The trick to being a power user is mastering the basics.
Everyone learns differently. You have to find the method that works for you.
If you're going to experiment with your computer, as any power user does, make sure you know how to backup and restore your hard drive. So when one of your experiments goes kablooey, you can easily get back to where you were before.
Make sure to have fun. If you're not having fun, why are you doing it? ((;-)
Answering users' questions in this forum will increase your knowledge. If you don't know the answer, you must look it up. You learn best by helping someone else.
