Hi!

Are you able to log in to Windows normally?

It might be an expired token. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your account.

  1. Open Windows Settings > Accounts > Your info > Under Microsoft account, click Sign in as a local account.
  2. Click Next > Enter your email or Windows login password.
  3. Enter your user information > Next > Sign out and finish.
  4. After unlinking your email account from Windows, restart your PC > When it starts, relink your email account.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Sign out of Windows, then sign back in, and try PIN setup again. Microsoft notes this can fix PIN creation errors.
    2. If fingerprint sign-in is failing, sign in with a PIN or password instead, then re-register the fingerprint:
      • Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello)
      • Select Add a finger if available, or remove the fingerprint and set it up again.
    3. Reset the PIN from Settings:
      • Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options
      • Select PIN (Windows Hello)
      • If available, choose I forgot my PIN and follow the account verification steps.
      • If Change PIN is available, it requires the old PIN.
    4. If the PIN is required at sign-in but the Settings page shows it as unavailable, check whether the device is connected to a work or school account:
      • Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school
      • If an organization account is listed, disconnect it
      • Restart the PC and check PIN options again
    5. If biometric options are unavailable, check the fingerprint hardware and driver:
      • Open Device Manager
      • Confirm the sensor appears under Biometric devices
      • Right-click the biometric device, select Uninstall device, then restart the PC so Windows reinstalls the driver
    6. If fingerprint still does not work after restart, remove the nonworking biometric enrollment and enroll again from Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
    7. If Windows Hello was working before and this started after an app, driver, or update change, consider Restore or reset your PC. This is more disruptive than the steps above.
