    Hi Holbrook,

The error message "We couldn't verify you have the necessary permissions to upload the file" commonly occurs when the account signed in to the Microsoft 365 app is different from the account that is syncing with OneDrive, or when the signed-in account does not have permission to upload files to the destination OneDrive location.

To help resolve this issue, you may try the following steps:

1/ Verify that PowerPoint and OneDrive use the same account

    • Open the OneDrive app and note the account currently signed in.
    • Open PowerPoint and go to your account settings.
    • Make sure the same Microsoft account is being used in both apps.
    • Remove any unnecessary connected accounts and keep only the account that owns or has access to the OneDrive location.
    • Close and reopen both OneDrive and PowerPoint, then try uploading the file again.

2/ Sign out and sign back in

    • Sign out of PowerPoint.
    • Sign out of OneDrive.
    • Close both applications completely.
    • Reopen the apps and sign in again using the same account.
    • Try saving or uploading the file once more.

3/ Update your device and apps

    • Make sure iOS, PowerPoint, and OneDrive are updated to the latest available versions.
    • Restart the device after updating and test again.

    4/ Check your permissions

    • If you're uploading the file to a SharePoint site and receive this error, please contact your Site Owner, or Site Administrator and ask them to verify whether your account has the required Edit permissions for the affected library or folder.
    • They can also check whether your access permissions were recently changed or removed.

    5/ Contact your IT Administrator

If the issue persists after applying these steps, the best next step would be to have your IT administrator open a support ticket with Microsoft via the Microsoft 365 admin center. A technical support engineer can then initiate a remote session, review backend settings, and run diagnostics. If needed, they can escalate the case to specialized engineering teams who are well-equipped to perform advanced troubleshooting and provide targeted solutions.

As a fellow user, I don’t have access to internal systems or administrative tools required to resolve account-specific or backend issues. However, I genuinely hope the information I share helps point you in the right direction, and I'm always here to assist as much as I can.

For guidance on how to request support in the admin center, you may share this link with your admin: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.

If you are unsure who your IT administrator is, you can refer to this official Microsoft guide for assistance: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

I hope everything gets sorted out soon. Please keep me posted on any updates.
