My folders disappeared in my Teams Channel

If the folders disappeared from a Teams channel, the fastest recovery path depends on what happened to the underlying SharePoint folder.

1. Open the affected channel in Teams.
2. Select Shared > More commands > Open in SharePoint.
3. Check the channel folder in SharePoint:
   • If the folder was renamed, rename it back to the original channel name. This can restore the channel folder connection.
   • If the folder was deleted, go to the SharePoint Recycle bin and restore it. Restored items return to the same location they were deleted from.
4. Back in Teams, open the channel Shared tab again. If the folder was only out of sync, select Sync.

If the missing folder is tied to a deleted standard channel that was deleted before August 2022, SharePoint might not show a Delete option because older deleted channels were not fully disconnected from Teams. In that case, renaming the folder in SharePoint can trigger the missing management options to appear.

If the folder still cannot be restored or the channel files still do not appear, the SharePoint folder may still be associated with an active Teams channel. In SharePoint, navigate to the folder and select Go to channel to identify the linked channel.
