Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Appreciate the update and glad it seemed to fix itself. That was one of the things I saw most when I first researched this. Have a good day.

I just bought a new computer and can't get Outlook set up. When I open outlook, there is a pop up to add my comcast credentials (IMAP account). The server settings are correct. When I input my comcast email password, I get an error message that says "Something went wrong. Try again. You may need an app password". I called Comcast twice and they were not helpful. The person I spoke to insisted that the problem is not on their end and they don't provide app passwords. I searched the Comcast website for guidance and made sure followed the recommendations such as ensuring my Comcast email is allowing third party programs (which it is).
Looking for help on getting my email account added to Outlook.
Thanks

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.
I'm afraid that in this particular situation you would need to continue dealing with Comcast as Microsoft would not be able to help with password issues regarding their services. I have already done a fair bit of research on your issue and the best I could find was this thread https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5693013/i-cannot-get-my-comcast-email-added-to-outlook-all with some suggestions but ultimately you would need to deal with your provider's support services for more help.

FYI - The "You may need an app password" part of the error message is just generic. Outlook tags that on to any error when it fails to make a connection.
Is there any chance that your Comcast/Xfinity email account has been migrated to Yahoo?
[External Non-Microsoft Site] https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/yahoo-email-migration-overview
If you have been migrated to Yahoo
Outlook will try to connect you to the Comcast Mail Servers because your email ends with comcast.net. You have to trick Outlook into using the Yahoo Mail Servers instead. For step-by-step instructions see this post:

If you have not been migrated to Yahoo
Please provide the details of the server settings you are using to add the Comcast account.
Please be sure to let us know if the answer posted above helps.
