Hi @Rose Clara
Regarding your issue, I attempted to reproduce the behavior in both Excel and PowerPoint using Microsoft Japanese IME and Microsoft Chinese IME. However, IME conversion did not work in the password dialogs on my device. The registered IME entries worked correctly in Notepad.
In Excel, I navigated to File > Info > Protect Workbook > Encrypt with Password.
In PowerPoint, I navigated to File > Info > Protect Presentation > Encrypt with Password.
In both applications, typing in the password field produced only password dots, and the IME suggestion window did not appear.
To compare the working and non-working scenarios, could you please provide the following details?
For Excel, where IME works, could please confirm whether you were using Encrypt with Password, General Options, Protect Sheet, Protect Workbook, or another password dialog. Please provide the complete menu path and describe how the IME behaves in the password field.
For PowerPoint, where IME does not work, please provide the corresponding menu path and describe what happens when you attempt to enter the same temporary test word using IME.
Could you also provide:
- Whether you are creating a new password or opening an existing protected Excel workbook or PowerPoint presentation.
- Your Excel and PowerPoint version numbers, build numbers, and whether they are 32-bit or 64-bit editions.
- Your Windows version and build number.
- The language and IME product you are using. Please provide the exact IME name and version, including whether it is Microsoft IME or a third-party or custom IME.
- Whether Excel and PowerPoint are part of the same Office installation and update channel.
- Whether the same IME input works normally in other applications, such as Notepad or Word.
- If possible, could you please provide a screenshot showing the exact menu path you followed in Excel and PowerPoint, how the IME behaves in the password field? Please use a temporary test word instead of your actual password.
If my understanding is incorrect, please let me know. Any additional details about the difference in behavior would be helpful.
Hope to hear back from you soon.
