2026-08-10T08:11:00.6566667+00:00 Hi @Minh Ha
- Open Azure Portal → search Front Door → open Classic and Standard/Premium → check Custom Domain
- Open Azure Portal → Static Web Apps → websitename → settings → customdomain. delete from here old customdomain names.
Azure verifies domain ownership using:
TXT record
CNAME record
If your old TXT record still exists, Azure thinks the domain is still assigned.
✔ Fix
In your DNS provider (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare):
Delete:
Any TXT record starting with asverify.
Any CNAME pointing to *.azurestaticapps.net or *.azurewebsites.net
Thanks.

2026-08-10T08:45:36.1533333+00:00 Hi Minh,
Thank you for providing the details.
Since the custom domain was previously configured successfully in the old subscription, we would like to first confirm whether the previous configuration has been completely removed before proceeding with further investigation.
Could you please check the following:
Confirm that the previous Static Web App and Function App resources have been completely deleted from the old subscription.
Confirm that the custom domain is no longer associated with any of the resources from the previous subscription.
If possible, please check whether the old subscription is still visible in the Azure portal and confirm its current status.
Please also verify that the DNS records associated with the previous configuration have been removed or updated as required for the new resources.
After confirming the above, please try adding the custom domain again to the new Static Web App and Function App and let us know whether you continue to receive the same error.
If the previous resources and domain configuration have been completely removed, but Azure still reports that the custom domain is already associated with another resource, please share the exact error message/screenshot with us.
This will help us determine whether the issue is related to the previous configuration or whether further service-side investigation is required.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Minh Ha • 1 Reputation point2026-08-10T09:25:49.52+00:00 Dear Ajay,
- I deleted the subscription /tenant (B2C tenant) without delete any resources in it. My old B2C tenant is: 143611b2-77bc-4361-98ce-483e516f4a67
- I confirmed that my custom domain is no longer assolicated with any azure static apps and azure functions in old (deleted) subscription.
- I can't check the old subscription because It is not visiable in my azure portal anymore.
- All DNS records that were pointed to previous resources in old subscription were removed.
Please advise.
Thanks

2026-08-10T12:26:13.8666667+00:00 Hello @Minh Ha
When a custom domain is bound and the entire subscription or tenant is deleted without first removing the domain binding, the platform can retain an orphaned association on the backend. Even after all DNS records are cleaned up and the old resources are no longer visible, Azure still treats the domain as linked to the previous (now-deleted) resources. That’s why you’re blocked from adding it to the new Static Web Apps and Function Apps.
The supported path is to open a technical support request so the Azure team can manually release the domain binding.
Here’s what I recommend:
- In the Azure portal (signed in to your current subscription), go to Help + support → Create a support request.
- Choose:
- Issue type: Technical
- Service: Static Web Apps (and mention Azure Functions / App Service as well)
- Problem type: Custom domain issues
- Service: Static Web Apps (and mention Azure Functions / App Service as well)
- Issue type: Technical
- In the description, include:
- The exact custom domain name(s)
- The error you see when trying to add it
- That the domain was previously used in a deleted subscription/tenant (tenant ID: 143611b2-**)
- Confirmation that all old DNS records have been removed and the domain is no longer associated with any visible resources
- Attach proof of domain ownership (a screenshot from your registrar is usually sufficient).
Once team confirms the binding has been released, you should be able to add the domain to your new resources following the normal steps.

It has been two weeks since the problem was first reported, and our website has been completely stuck during this entire period. Although a support representative contacted me, there has been no progress for two weeks, and we still have no update on the current status.
This issue is causing significant impact to our business. We urgently need your support to resolve it and provide an immediate update on the progress. We cannot afford for this issue to continue for another week.
