Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Dear @Walker Leo,
I understand how critical it is to regain access to your administrator account, especially as the sole admin on the system. I am here to help you resolve this issue immediately.
When a system update disrupts administrator permissions or prevents login, it is usually caused by a corrupted user profile, a disabled built-in Administrator account, or a temporary startup glitch.
Please try the following verified steps to restore access:
Step 1: Boot into Safe Mode
- On the Windows login screen, press and hold the Shift key while clicking Power > Restart.
- Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- After your PC restarts, press 4 or F4 to boot into Safe Mode.
Step 2: Enable the Built-in Administrator Account via Command Prompt
- If you cannot sign in via Safe Mode, go back to Advanced options and select Command Prompt.
- Type the following command and press Enter:
net user administrator /active:yes - Restart your PC normally. A new account named Administrator should now appear on your login screen with no password by default. Log in to this account to regain control and fix or re-assign admin privileges to your main profile via Settings > Accounts > Other users.
If you are locked out completely and cannot complete self-recovery:
Because you are the sole administrator, Microsoft Security rules prevent support agents from resetting credentials directly over email or chat. You must contact the Microsoft Data Protection Team by phone to verify your identity and restore access:
- Find the direct telephone number for your country or region here: Microsoft Customer Service Phone Numbers
- Inform the automated system that you are an Administrator locked out of your account following an update.
Please let me know if you are able to reach the phone support team or if you receive a specific error code during sign-in so I can assist you further.
