Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
This is usually a temporary security block triggered by unusual activity during sign-up.
Try these steps:
- Stop making repeated sign-up attempts for at least 24 hours. Repeated attempts can keep the block active.
- Turn off any VPN, proxy, ad blocker, or privacy extension.
- Clear the browser cache, make sure JavaScript is enabled, and use a normal browser window instead of Incognito/InPrivate.
- Try a different browser.
- If using Windows 11, try creating the account from Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account, then select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.
If the block is related to Microsoft detecting suspicious activity, account blocks can also happen because of unusual activity, too many requests, or traffic patterns from a location. In some cases, switching networks helps, such as moving between Wi‑Fi and mobile data. If it does not clear, wait longer before trying again.
If an Outlook.com account is already blocked after creation because of unusual sign-in activity, use the Sign-in Helper to unblock it: Sign-in Helper
