Do i have to renew a new build? i just want to use my regular Windows 11 that was installed on my laptop when i purchased it, i have opted out of the program but keep getting notifications to renew since the current one is expiring.

So at some point you did join

the Insider Program? What Windows

build are you on? Use WIN+R, type winver

and post the build #.

No. A regular OEM-installed Windows 11 license on the laptop does not need to be repurchased or “renewed.” If Windows was preinstalled when the laptop was bought, that license stays with that device.

The expiry notification is typically related to a Windows Insider preview build, not the underlying Windows 11 license. Insider builds are less stable, are not serviced long-term, and eventually expire.

To stop the notifications and return to stable Windows:

Check whether the device is still on a production build:
- Go to Start > Settings > System > About and review the edition, version, and build number.
- Or press Windows key + R, type winver, and check the build number.
Confirm Insider is turned off:
- Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program.
- Select Stop getting preview builds and follow the prompts.
If the PC is already on a production build, opting out does not remove personal data.
If the device is still on an expiring Insider build and the warning continues, restore the PC to a stable Windows version using a recovery image:
- Back up important files first.
- Use a Windows 11 recovery image to restore the device.

If Windows was activated before the Insider build was installed, Windows 11 should activate again after returning to the regular release. Activation status can be checked in Start > Settings > System > Activation.
