Need help with my Surface Pro 11th edition damage screen

I would like to check if my device is still under warranty and whether the screen issue can be covered.

If it's not covered, could you please provide the official repair/ replacement options and estimated cost for replacing the screen?

I would also like to explain how the damage happened.

The Surface Pro 11 does not have a protective case/bumper option that covers and protects the edges of the device. The only official accessory I have is the keyboard cover, which protects the screen when closed but does not provide full protection around the device body and edges.

Because the device is designed to be used as a tablet as well as a laptop, it was difficult to protect it during normal daily use. Unfortunately, the device was accidentally dropped and the screen was damaged.

I would like to know if Microsoft can offer any support, repair options, or a reasonable solution for this situation.

The first step is to check the warranty status of the Surface Pro 11 and see whether Microsoft Complete or any other accidental-damage coverage was purchased with the device. If accidental-damage coverage is active, the repair/replacement may be handled under that plan, subject to its terms and any applicable service fee.

If there is no accidental-damage coverage, Microsoft Support can confirm whether the device is eligible for an out-of-warranty service replacement and provide the applicable cost. Microsoft generally does not treat the lack of a protective case as a reason to cover accidental damage under the standard warranty.

I would recommend contacting Microsoft Surface Support with the device's serial number. They can confirm the exact warranty status and available service options for your particular device and region.

Unfortunately, there is usually no standard warranty exception simply because the Surface Pro 11 does not have an official bumper or protective case.

To check warranty and start an official service request for a personal Surface Pro 11:

    1. Go to Microsoft account | Devices or Select device for service.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account used for the device.
    3. Select the Surface Pro 11, or select Register device if it is not already listed.
    4. Review the warranty status shown for the device.
    5. Select Next and complete the service order.

For accidental damage such as a dropped device with a damaged screen:

    • Standard warranty coverage may not apply to physical damage.
    • If the device has Microsoft Complete coverage, the service request flow supports damaged-device issue types such as Cracked screen, liquid damage, or physical damage.
    • If the device is out of warranty or the damage is not covered, Microsoft offers out-of-warranty service for a fee, and the device may be replaced with a refurbished device.

Official repair or replacement options listed for out-of-warranty or damaged Surface devices are:

    1. Start the replacement process online through the service portal.
    2. Use Microsoft Complete if that coverage is on the device.
    3. Get in-person support where service centers are available.
    4. Perform a self-repair for supported out-of-warranty devices.

Important before sending the device for service:

    • If the Surface still turns on, back up important files first.
    • Microsoft recommends backing up data because it will not be recovered during service.

    About screen replacement cost:

    Warranty after service:

    • If service is completed in warranty, the serviced or replacement device gets the remainder of the original hardware warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer.
    • If service is completed out of warranty, the serviced or replacement device gets a 90-day hardware warranty.

If self-repair is being considered instead of Microsoft service:

    • Self-repair replacement components are intended for out-of-warranty repairs.
    • Parts availability varies by country.
    • Repairing with a replacement component does not affect Microsoft’s Limited Warranty, but any damage caused by a repair performed by someone other than Microsoft or an Authorized Service Provider is not covered under Microsoft’s Limited Warranty.
