how to recover deleted files and pages in onenote on Mac PC

On OneNote for Mac, deleted pages and sections can usually be recovered for up to 60 days.

1. Open the notebook where the notes were deleted.
2. On the menu bar, select Notebooks > Deleted Notes > View Deleted Notes.
   • In some Mac builds, this is also available from View > Deleted Notes > View Deleted Notes.
3. Select the deleted page or section to inspect it.
4. Control-click the page or section tab, then select Restore To.
5. Choose the notebook or section where the content should be restored, then select Restore.

Important details:

• OneNote keeps deleted notes for 60 days, then permanently erases them.
• Deleted pages and sections do not appear in notebook search results until they are restored.
• If a whole section is restored, all previously deleted pages in that section are restored with it.

If the deleted content was removed from a Class Notebook and the OneNote deleted notes area was already emptied, recovery may still be possible from OneDrive Recycle bin:

1. Sign in to Microsoft365.com.
2. Open OneDrive.
3. Select Recycle bin.
4. If needed, open Second stage recycle bin.
5. Select the deleted items and choose Restore.

If notes seem missing rather than deleted, first manually sync the notebook:

1. Open the shared notebook.
2. Select File > Sync This Notebook or File > Sync All Notebooks.
3. Then check Notebooks > Deleted Notes > View Deleted Notes again.
