Defender opens promo screen, sign in, back to promo screen

Open MS Defender, starts with promo screen (1mth free subscription...), click Sign In, goes through sign in ok, returns to promo screen. I can sign in just fine to M365 family account, just not with Defender.

    Hello Douglas Kelly

    I understand that the sign-in completes, but Microsoft Defender returns to the subscription promotional screen.

    Please try the following:

    1. Sign in to Microsoft account Services & subscriptions and confirm that Microsoft 365 Family is active under the same personal Microsoft account being used in Defender.
    2. In Windows, open Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Defender > Advanced options, select Repair, and try signing in again.
    3. If the issue continues, return to the same page and select Reset, restart Windows, and sign in again.
    4. Install available Windows and Microsoft Store updates. If necessary, uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Defender from the Microsoft Store.

    When signing in, make sure you select the personal Microsoft account linked to the Family subscription, rather than a work or school account.
