cant change ny brightness

I understand how inconvenient this can be, especially when the brightness indicator appears but the actual screen brightness does not change.

To help narrow this down, could you please confirm:

• What is the make and exact model of your laptop?
• Does the brightness still change normally using the slider under Settings > System > Display or Quick Settings?
• Did this start after a recent Windows or driver update?
• Are you using the laptop’s built-in display or an external monitor?

In the meantime, please try the following:

• Press Fn + the brightness key and check whether it works. You can also try toggling Fn Lock, which is commonly done with Fn + Esc, although the shortcut may vary by manufacturer.
• Restart the graphics driver by pressing Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B. The screen may briefly flicker or you may hear a beep.
• Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates and install any available display or keyboard driver updates, then restart the laptop.
• Open Device Manager > Display adapters, right-click the graphics adapter, and select Update driver.
• Visit the laptop manufacturer’s support website and install the recommended graphics driver and any hotkey or function-key utility available for the exact model.
