When will the GPT-5.6 series support batch processing tasks? Also, does the Batch API support caching?

    Hi @51155945,

    Thank you for your question.

At this time, Microsoft has not published an official timeline for when the GPT-5.6 series will be supported with Azure OpenAI Batch deployments. Based on the currently published model availability information, GPT-5.6 is available through Standard Global deployments, but there is no announced ETA for Batch support.

Regarding caching, Batch processing and prompt caching are separate capabilities. Azure OpenAI supports prompt caching for supported scenarios, including GPT-5.6-family models, but there is currently no published documentation that confirms any Batch API-specific caching behavior. [

    Therefore:

    • GPT-5.6 Batch support: No public release timeline has been announced.
    • Batch API caching: There is currently no published documentation confirming additional caching behaviour specific to Batch jobs.

We recommend monitoring model availability, Azure OpenAI documentation, and release announcements for updates on future Batch support for GPT-5.6.

I hope this helps clarify the current status.

    Hello 51155945,

Greetings! Thanks for raising this question in Q&A forum.

At the moment, Microsoft has not published any official timeline for when the GPT-5.6 series will support Batch processing in Azure OpenAI. This feature availability depends on the Azure OpenAI product team and is announced through Azure documentation and release notes when supported.

    1. Check the Azure OpenAI model availability and Batch API documentation regularly for new model support announcements.
    2. If Batch processing is a requirement today, consider using a model that is already listed as supported for Azure OpenAI Batch workloads.
    3. Regarding caching, prompt caching and Batch API are separate features. GPT-5.6 models support prompt caching capabilities, but there is currently no published documentation confirming any additional Batch API-specific caching behavior.
    4. If you need a definitive roadmap or ETA for GPT-5.6 Batch support, the next action is with the Microsoft product team, as this information is not available through the Q&A forum.

You can monitor updates in the Azure OpenAI documentation and release notes for future announcements from Microsoft.

If this answer helps you kindly accept the answer which will help others who have similar questions

    Best Regards,

    Jerald Felix.
