A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Try this in order:
- Restart the Print Spooler service.
- Press Windows key + R
- Type services.msc and press Enter
- Find Print Spooler
- Right-click it and select Restart
- If that does not help, clear and reset the print spooler. This removes stuck print jobs.
- In the taskbar search box, type services and open Services
- Double-click Print Spooler
- Select Stop and then OK
- In the taskbar search box, enter %WINDIR%\system32\spool\PRINTERS
- Delete all files in that folder
- Open Services again
- Double-click Print Spooler
- Select Start
- Set Startup Type to Automatic
- Select OK
- Check whether the OneNote virtual printer is present.
- OneNote (Desktop) is installed by default with the OneNote Windows app.
- OneNote (Desktop) - Protected is installed by default only in OneNote Windows app version 2410 and later on Windows 11 version 26100 or higher.
- If the OneNote printer is missing or was removed, uninstall and reinstall the OneNote app to restore it. Make sure notes are synced first to avoid losing unsynced changes.
- If printing still fails in Microsoft 365 apps, repair Office.
- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps
- Select Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office
- Select Modify
- Run Quick Repair first
- If the issue continues, run Online Repair
- Restart the PC and test printing again.
If the printer shown in the print dialog is a virtual printer such as OneNote (Desktop) instead of the actual printer, printing may not go to paper. In that case, select the actual printer from the printer list.
