How do I remove my daughter from our Family Safety?

Depending on where you are located, if your daughter is under the age of 18 she would be classed as a child. This could mean that she will have family restrictions placed on her account, even though she has been removed from the Microsoft family group.

Please can you invite your daughter back to the Microsoft family group, through the Microsoft family website here: https://account.microsoft.com/family/home

Once you have invited her back into the Microsoft family and she has accepted the invitation, please go back to the Microsoft family website again. Once you have signed into your account, please can you click onto her name. This will load up her profile.

Please can you click onto Edge from the tab menu under her name

This will open the options for when your daughter uses the Microsoft Edge browser. On that page, please can you scroll down to the bottom where you can see "Filter settings"

Please can you check if the site your daughter needs to use is blocked?

If you do find it, you can remove the site from the block list by clicking onto remove

This should remove it from the list and she should be able to access the site.

You will also want to check if the toggle is set to on for "Only use allowed websites"

If it is set to on, please turn this off. This should allow her to access sites that are not on the allowed list. If you don't want this setting turned off, please add the site she needs to access to the allowed list by typing/pasting the site's URL into the add a website box under the allowed sites heading.

The other thing I would like to mention, especially with what you have stated in your original post

I have already removed my daughter from our Family Safety as she was having trouble at school and wasn't able to log into websites.

Schools/colleges/universities will have their own systems in place that will monitor device usage. In some countries/regions this is required by law that thee are filtering and monitoring systems in place for students who are accessing the school's network.

This means that if your daughter is using her laptop in school and connecting it to her schools network, it could be the schools firewall that is blocking her from accessing sites the school deems unacceptable. If this is the case, you will not see any blocked list of websites in the Microsoft family portal as this is controlled by school and enforced on any device connected to their network.

If this is the case, she would need to speak to her teacher or IT team who can look into the website and see if it can be unblocked.
