I am a parent trying to add an account for my child so I can add her device. Every time, it prompts her to login which is successful then I am prompted to login and authorise the account but I keep getting an error saying I am not authorised to give consent as shown in the image.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong and need help from Microsoft to resolve this. It is really frustrating that this just doesn't work.

I have been able to fix the problem. The issue was that the country on my account was different from the country on my child's account. My account was open years ago when I was still residing in another country.
Thanks for you assistance.

    Hello Jacob Ayokunle

    I’m sorry you’re experiencing this.

The message “This account cannot give parental consent” usually means the Microsoft account being used to approve the request is not currently recognized as an adult account.

    Please try the following:

    1. Sign in to the parent’s Microsoft account profile and verify that the date of birth is correct.
    2. If the date of birth is incorrect, update it and save the changes. If Microsoft identifies the account as a child, follow the displayed consent process to correct the account information.
    3. After confirming the parent account is an adult account, open a private or InPrivate browser window, sign in at Microsoft Family Safety, and accept the pending invitation again.
    4. When prompted for consent, make sure you select Sign in with a different account and use the verified adult personal Microsoft account, not the child’s account.

I hope this helps you complete the setup.

Feel free reply back to this post if you need further assistance, I'll be happy to help.

I have similar issue but instead I want to create 2 accounts for 2 my boys below 10y to play Minecraft on net. First account I've been able to register and consent despite my country is different than his. When I tried to register second account with new @outlook.com email and then consent it gets me error like this (see pic).

I tried to remove consent for first account to be able to change my country same like their. But because it's under the 10y was not able to do that. Therefore I have tried change his birth year to unpair him from my supervising until I get change my country same as their. I'm stuck now to change my country it still require to remove consent. I'm not sure whether it's server delay population or what.

I have solved partially with magic of D.O.B. for all accounts and will wait few days to replicate. Then I will create a new family group.
