Subscription Issue and Refund Request

I signed up for the Microsoft subscription using the free trial and added my payment card for verification. Unfortunately, I forgot to cancel the subscription and remove my payment method before the free trial expired. As a result, my card was automatically charged for the subscription renewal.

The renewal was unintentional, and I no longer require or intend to use the subscription. I kindly request a refund for the recent charge and the cancellation of the subscription to prevent any future automatic renewals.

I would greatly appreciate your understanding and assistance in processing my refund request. Thank you for your time and support.

    Dear @Chathuri Senadeera,

I understand that you were unexpectedly charged after your free trial ended and would like to request a refund and cancel your subscription. I know how frustrating accidental charges can be, and I am happy to help you resolve this.

Because Microsoft Business and Education accounts are managed through a separate portal from personal accounts, you must process the cancellation through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center as an Administrator. However, you can easily process the cancellation and request a refund yourself by following these steps:
How to Cancel and Get a Refund via the Admin Center

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and sign in with your admin credentials (the work or school email address you used for your trial).
    2. In the left navigation menu, go to Billing > Your products (or Subscriptions if using Simplified view).
    3. Select the subscription you wish to cancel.
    4. In the subscription details section, select Cancel subscription.
    5. Select a reason for canceling and confirm.

Refund Eligibility Note: For business billing accounts (such as MCA), canceling within 7 days of the start or renewal date automatically issues a prorated refund/credit. The refund is typically credited back to the original payment method within 1–2 billing cycles.

If you are an End User (not an Admin): Contact your institution’s or company’s IT Administrator. Only the Global Admin or Billing Admin can process cancellations and refunds for enterprise/edu accounts.

If you are the Admin but need manual refund help: You can open a ticket directly with Microsoft Business Support:

    • In the Admin Center, click the Help & support button in the bottom-right corner.
    • Type "Cancel subscription and request refund"
    • Click Contact Support at the bottom to submit a ticket or connect with a Microsoft Commercial Billing Support agent.

Please refer to this document: Cancel your subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center

Please let me know if you run into any issues during the process.
