So I just got a new GPU and since then I'm getting a ton of Hardware Errors in the reliability monitor while playing games. I've tried older driver versions and a few troubleshooting options but nothing seems to help. Can anyone help?

Specs:
MB: Aorus B450 pro
Ram: 16gb 3600mhz

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600XT

GPU: Gigabyte RX 7600 Gaming OC

SSD: M.2 990 plus

Hi ,

Search for msinfo32.exe in the search bar, take a screenshot, and post it here so we can see the correct laptop model or desktop configuration.

Access the c:\windows\minidump folder, copy the files to your desktop, then upload them to OneDrive or Google Drive and post the link here for analysis.

Hi,

The minidump information indicates a failure with the AMD video driver.

Did you make any BIOS or overclocking settings changes beforehand?

Hello,

No I have not made any changes the only settings I have enabled in BIOS are memory XMP, Secure boot and Resizable BAR (I turned this on in case it fixes it, no results).
No overclocking, my card usually runs at around 2800mhz but right now I'm running it at 2650mhz max for stability (Which is the boost frequency of the RX 7600).

I'm also currently running an older driver version (25.9.1) which is more stable than the newest one and produces less crashes. (Still getting the hardware errors on this version as well).

Hii,

It is recommended that you update the drivers for the BIOS reinstall driver GPU.

Please note that while updating the BIOS is recommended, it carries some risk. If the update process is interrupted unexpectedly, the laptop may fail to boot. Therefore, if you lack experience with hardware and software operations, you may choose to skip this step, even though it is strongly advised.

Before updating the BIOS, you must disable BitLocker. To do this: open Command Prompt as an administrator, run the command manage-bde -off C:, wait for the decryption process to complete, and then restart your computer.

After updating the BIOS, it is recommended that you use the DDU tool.

Note: DDU is a third-party application used to completely uninstall and reinstall GPU drivers.

After downloading, extract DDU to a specific folder.

Run the "Display Driver Uninstaller.exe" program, select the "Model" tab, and then select "GPU".

When uninstalling GPU drivers, make sure to select the option to uninstall for "All GPUs". Click the first option, "Clean and Restart", and wait for the process to complete.

After running DDU, please use the AMD Cleanup Utility:

First, open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following command: net user administrator /active:yes. If the command executes successfully, download the AMD Cleanup Utility from the link below:

The system will restart into Safe Mode; then, log in to the local administrator account (which has no password) and run the AMD Cleanup Utility.

Once completed, the system will restart again; at this point, you should install the graphics drivers and chipset drivers.

Then perform a clean boot and if you want to uninstall applications that you do not use.

Hello,

So I have some news, after I did everything above and installed the newest driver, the game now freezes for a few seconds while playing (2-5 minutes of playing) and crashing, producing a driver timeout. This was also happening before I downloaded the older driver version. Could the PSU be the problem since it's old and not very reliable? I will attach the new code (141) and send a link with the new .dmp file.

Hi,

In this case, it could be a GPU failure. If possible, test it on the other PCI slot of the motherboard and with a different power supply. However, regarding hardware, I'm sorry, and everything points to the GPU.

If you don't have hardware experience, take the computer to an authorized service center to have the GPU tested separately.

Hi,

I tried swapping PCI slot, still same issue. What should I do next, should I get a new PSU or return the GPU getting a new one in case that it's faulty?

Hi,

Before buying a new power supply, it would be best to test the GPU in another PC. If that isn't possible, I think it's better to claim the warranty and exchange the GPU, since most of the errors point to an AMD GPU failure.

Hello,

Alright I will try to do that, thank you, one last question, is it possible that the display cable be the reason for the crashes? I've read somewhere that an old/overused display cable could cause driver timeouts. Not sure about the 141 kernel though.
