I cannot type in Excel on my mac. My mac is up to date. I have uninstalled my subscription via the instructions on Microsoft site, reinstalled, and restarted and still can't type in excel. Word works.

Which version of macOS are you using?
Was the subscription purchased from the Microsoft Store or the App Store?
Uninstall your current Office apps:
Uninstall all Office apps completely
Open Finder > Applications
Select all Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, etc.)
Download and install through your Microsoft account:
Go to account.microsoft.com/services
Sign in with the Microsoft account linked to your subscription
Find your Microsoft 365 subscription and click Install
Once installed, open any Office app and sign in with the same Microsoft account to activate.
Also install the latest version of the Microsoft AutoUpdate app. There is a link in the support article at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/lifecycle/officeinstall/update-office-for-mac-automatically

these instructions are incomplete. There are no instructions on how to uninstall. If I right click on excel or word, there is not choice to uninstall.
You just have to delete the applications normally.Using Command + click. Right-click the selected apps, choose Move to Trash, and empty your trash
I uninstalled and reinstalled following your directions. I did this earlier this week, too, and the problem is not solved. I still cannot type in excel.
Have you also installed Microsoft AutoUpdate?
Does any error message appear?
I did this. Uninstalled and reinstalled excel for a third time, restarted, ran updates and I still can't type in the document. I need real technical support, not this AI crap. I am paying for a subscription and I haven't been able to use it for a month.

Could you provide some information? Does an error message appear, or are you simply unable to edit the files? And does this happen with all files?
No error message, can’t type in any file, new or existing files.
I’ve also gone through all the issues such as read only or protected sheet view and none of those are the issue.
Please try opening Excel while holding the Option key to check whether the issue persists without loading your usual Excel settings.

Type "Billing" as the keyword > Click the "Contact Support" button.
Choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription".
You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.
