I think the issue i was having was that my microsoft store account and my xbox account were mismatched. Once i made them the same account the issue was fixed and the realm showed up in my feed when I relaunched the game.

I was trying to purchase a Minecraft realm through Minecraft Windows 10 edition, but was completely unable to. I went to the Xbox website and signed into my account and was able to purchase the realm there. Unfortunately the realm I purchased does NOT show up in the realms menu and I am completely unable to access it through Minecraft. My card was charged and the subscriptions panel on the Microsoft website shows the realm there.
