My subscription expired. I purchased a new subscription. I cannot edit a previous word document. This is the purpose of the new subscription. When I click on activate at the top of the document, nothing happens. How do I edit this document? It is urgent.

This may have to do with a recent macOS update, not necessarily a subscription issue.
I need more information in order to give you the right troubleshooting direction.
What is your macOS version?
Is your office product purchased from Microsoft or from Apple?
