I have Windows 11 Pro and 2026-07 Security Update (KB5101650) (26200.8875) continues to fail to update. Is there an easy fix that doesn't require me to change settings to make it go through?

Please see if you can install the latest cumulative update offline. Here are the instructions:

Create a folder named Packages at the root of the C drive. (i.e., C:\Packages)

Download the following .MSU files from Microsoft:

https://catalog.sf.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com/filestreamingservice/files/d8b7f92b-bd35-4b4c-96e5-46ce984b31e0/public/windows11.0-kb5043080-x64_953449672073f8fb99badb4cc6d5d7849b9c83e8.msu

Copy the above .MSU files to the C:\Packages folder.

Open Command Prompt (admin) and run this command:

DISM /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\Packages\windows11.0-kb5101650-x64_5d4163c2e483adc9456b7ea9a8ea83d8fceaf52c.msu

(If it reports an error, please post a screenshot.)

Restart Windows when prompted.

    • Press Enter to open Services app Double-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service. If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, right click then select Restart Double-click Windows Update. If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, right click then select Restart
    • Please try to run SFC and DISM to check for any system errors and corrupted files.  https://support.microsoft.com/windows/using-system-file-checker-in-windows-365e0031-36b1-6031-f804-8fd86e0ef4ca  Restart your computer

    Hi, good day!

Before suggesting more advanced troubleshooting, could you answer a few questions?

    • What error code do you see? (For example, 0x800f0922, 0x80070002, etc.)
    • At what point does the update fail?
    1. While downloading?
    2. While installing (for example, at 20%, 35%, or 100%)?
    3. After restarting, when Windows says it's undoing changes?

I look forward to your update and am willing to collaborate with you until we resolve the issue. Keep me posted by clicking "Add comments" below.
