In the "new" Outlook, I can filter for unread messages in the current selected folder. In the Classic Outlook, it would show me all unread messages in every folder. Is there a way and how do I make it work that way in the New Outlook?

Hi Kaye,

Good day and thank you for posting on Microsoft Community.

In New Outlook, you can create a Search Folder for unread messages across your mailbox:

  1. Open the Folder Pane on the left side of Outlook.Image
  2. Scroll down and expand Search Folders. Image
  3. Select Create new Search Folder.
  4. Choose Unread email as the criteria, give the folder a name, and select Create. Image
  5. If required, right-click the new Search Folder and choose Add to Favorites so it stays easily accessible.

This will give you a folder that displays unread messages from across your mailbox, similar to the behaviour available in Classic Outlook.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I am looking forward to your response.
