hello Mansi Awasthi
We looked into the error encountered when trying to switch the storage account redundancy from LRS (Locally Redundant Storage) to RA-GRS (Read-Access Geo-Redundant Storage):
"Failed to update redundancy for storage account 'ocdmrevprd01pvtvty5kevxe'. Error: Sku update from Standard_LRS to Standard_RAGRS is not allowed at the moment. Please try again later."
Microsoft guidance indicates that changing redundancy from LRS to RA-GRS is supported for Azure Storage accounts. That said, this error usually means Azure is temporarily blocking the SKU conversion because of a service-side restriction, an unsupported configuration, or data/features that can interfere with redundancy changes.
To investigate further, please share the following details:
- Storage account region
- Storage account type (StorageV2, BlobStorage, GPv1, etc.)
- Whether Hierarchical Namespace (ADLS Gen2) is enabled
- Approximate storage account data size
- Confirmation whether any blobs, blob versions, snapshots, or soft-deleted blobs are currently in the Archive tier
Archived blobs, archived versions, archived snapshots, or soft-deleted archived data may block redundancy changes and might need to be rehydrated before the operation can continue. Please check the reference documents:
