    Welcome ralph young,

I understand how frustrating it can be when Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand you would like to remove a PC application from your Windows 10 HP ProBook and are concerned it may be a phishing or potentially unwanted app.

Before proceeding, could you please confirm:

    • What is the exact name of the app you want to remove?
    • Did you install it manually, or did it appear unexpectedly on the PC?

In the meantime, you can try these steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

Option 1: Uninstall the app from Settings

    • Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features
    • Locate the application
    • Select it and choose Uninstall

Option 2: Run a Microsoft Defender scan

    • Open Windows Security
    • Select Virus & threat protection
    • Run a Full scan

    Option 3: Check startup programs

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
    • Select the Startup tab
    • Disable any unknown or suspicious entries

    Option 4: Review installed programs

    • Open Control Panel > Programs and Features
    • Look for recently installed or unfamiliar applications
    • Uninstall any that you do not recognize

Option 5: Run Microsoft Defender Offline scan

    • Open Windows Security
    • Select Virus & threat protection
    • Choose Scan options
    • Select Microsoft Defender Offline scan

I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.

    Hi,

Could you please provide more details about this issue?

Are you referring to the PC App Store application (or another app with a similar name) installed on your Windows PC? If so, could you please share a screenshot?

Are you seeing a pop-up window from the app, or is it listed under Settings > Apps?

Did you install the app yourself, or did it appear on your PC without your knowledge?
