I am sorry, but it is super unclear.

Do you mean that you want to purchase a MacBook Air, install Office Home & Business 2021 on it, and then give the MacBook to someone so they can use Office permanently?

Or do you already own an Office Home & Business 2021 license and want to know whether you can transfer that license to the person receiving the MacBook?

Please clarify whether Office has already been purchased and which Microsoft account was used to activate it.

Sorry for opacity! I have an old MacBook Air with MS Office H&B 2021 already installed from purchase year or two ago and registered in my name. I'm planning to give the MacBook to my son with the Office already installed for his use. I'd simply like to transfer my ownership of Office into his name and buy another version of MS Office Home for my new iMac. Please advise of OK and how to make the switch of ownership of Office already installed on the MacBook to him when I give him the MacBook. MANY MANY THANKS for your help!!

Thank you for reaching out, and thank you for the detailed explanation.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer an Office Home & Business 2021 license from one Microsoft account to another. Office Home & Business 2021 is a one-time purchase, and once it has been redeemed and associated with a Microsoft account, the license cannot be moved to a different Microsoft account.

One exception is for users in the European Economic Area (EEA) can transfer the license to another person as permitted by applicable law. More information can be found here: Transfer your Office license to another device or another person.

That said, your son may still be able to use the Office applications already installed on the MacBook if they remain activated using your licensed Microsoft account. The license would continue to be associated with your Microsoft account, not your son's account.

Thanks for the very clear, very detailed reply. I'm glad I asked. Last thing we want is to get cross-wise with Microsoft and for me, at my advanced age, to get a knock on my door at 3:00am from Trump's ICE people! Well, on second thought, it might be OK if I could be assured of a cell adjoining Martha Stewart's!!!

the MacBook Air comes with an "office" suite. Pages (Word), Numbers (Excel), and Keynote (Powerpoint). On the Mac mail and calendar are separate apps but included.
