An AI tool in Foundry for analyzing documents and media to classify content, extract entities, and generate structured understanding
Azure Content Understanding is not currently listed as available in Canada Central or Canada East. The supported-region list includes US, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Australia regions, but no Canadian region. There is no deployment choice today that both uses Content Understanding and guarantees Canadian regional residency. Keeping source files in a Canadian Storage account does not change where Content Understanding stores or processes content sent to its endpoint. Do not select a US region solely as a workaround unless the client’s privacy, legal, and security teams approve the resulting cross-border data flow. The practical options are to defer this component or evaluate a different Azure service that is available in Canada and meets the exact extraction requirements. Microsoft’s public documentation does not provide a Canada launch date. For roadmap information, contact the Microsoft account team or Azure Support; treat any nonpublic date as planning guidance, not a committed availability date.
