The referral code is entered during the Microsoft for Startups application flow on the Apply for Microsoft for Startups page. That page shows a field for a 10-character investor referral code with Next and Continue without a code options.
If that option is not visible in the Azure portal, use the Microsoft for Startups application flow instead:
- Go to the Microsoft for Startups landing page and select Get started / Get started now.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account used for the startup application.
- On Apply for Microsoft for Startups, enter the referral code if it is a 10-character investor referral code.
- If already approved and the code was received later, the program documentation states that a referral code can also be submitted later through the portal.
Important details for this scenario:
- Microsoft does not publicly share the list of participating investors/partners. The code must come from a partner in the Microsoft for Startups Investor Network.
- Additional benefits are granted based on eligibility review and startup status.
- After approval, benefits can include up to $150,000 in total Startup credits, not an automatic $200,000 grant.
- If the code entry point is missing or the portal does not allow submission, use the Microsoft for Startups program support channel at https://aka.ms/startuphelp-mfs-portal.
- For Azure account or technical issues after the account is set up, submit a support request through the Azure Portal.
