Hi Support,
I have been struggling with Word for several days and no success in adding Roman numerals to a specific section of a document. I've added section breaks accordingly, but no luck with adding sequential Roman numerals. This is very frustrating and impacting my ability to finish a paper. Please advise ASAP.

Stefan Blom repaired the http url in this answer. I do not know how to make an http url work in this forum.
Charles, the http link seems to be broken again. It can usually be fixed if you switch to the View Markdown view and then enter the URL. (Do not try to use Markdown syntax; just enter the plain URL in the Markdown view.) Submit the edits without leaving the Markdown view.

You can try the following:
-Place the cursor at the point where you want the numbering format to change.
-Go to Layout > Breaks > Next Page to insert a section break > Double-click the header or footer in the new section.
-On the Header & Footer tab, select Link to Previous to turn it off (if it is enabled).
-Select Page Number > Format Page Numbers.
-Under Number format, choose i, ii, iii, ... for Roman numerals, and under Page numbering, select Start at and specify the starting number if needed.
-Double-click inside the header or footer where you want the page number to appear.
-Select a page number position and choose a numbering style.
Please try these steps and let me know how it goes. If the page number still does not appear, please share a screenshot of the header/footer area with Home > Show/Hide enabled?

Hi- Thanks much and finally figured it out. Most other Word features are pretty intuitive or decent, but page numbers are surprisingly difficult to get right. Shouldn't be this hard. But thanks again for the suggestions.
