A collaborative workspace app in Microsoft 365 designed to help teams co-create, stay organized, and work together in real time across apps and devices.
Hi Keith,
Thank you for reaching out and for flagging this, and good instinct to pause before acting on it.
Based on the details you've provided, these calendar invites do not appear to be legitimate PayPal notifications and should be treated with caution until their authenticity can be verified. PayPal is one of the brands frequently impersonated in scams like this, where the invites claim your account has been charged a certain amount and try to pressure you into calling a number to "dispute" the charge.
As for how four of them appeared in Loop without you doing anything, these scams bypass the inbox and inject events straight onto your calendar, relying on the default setting that automatically adds invitations before you ever see or accept them. Once the events are on your Microsoft 365 calendar, they sync across everything connected to it, and Loop simply surfaces that same calendar content.
To clean this up and stop it from recurring, please do the following:
- Do not call the number, click any links, or open attachments in the invites.
- Delete the events, and if prompted, choose the option not to send a response so you do not confirm your address is active.
- Report the invites to Microsoft as phishing or junk by right clicking the event.
- Turn off auto add so future spam does not land on your calendar.
Go to Outlook Settings, select Calendar, then Events from email, and choose "Don't show event summaries in email or on my calendar."
If you want peace of mind about your actual account, please check directly with PayPal through their official website or app rather than any contact details in the invite. That way you can confirm there are no real charges without engaging with the scam.
