I have already graduated from university(bupt), but my campus email can still log in normally. However, the Microsoft account registered with my campus email cannot log in now, and it shows the following error message:

Request Id:  [Moderator note: Personal information removed]

Correlation Id:  [Moderator note: Personal information removed]

Timestamp: 2026-07-20T07:49:06Z

Message: AADSTS500022: Access to '[Moderator note: Personal information removed]' tenant is denied. All my important notes are in OneNote, and I just want to log in to access these notes. Is there any way to do this?

    Hello @Zhaojie Li,

Since your campus email is still working, there is a possibility that the email service remains active while your Microsoft 365 account access has been restricted after graduation.

The error AADSTS500022: Access to tenant is denied indicates that access to the university's Microsoft 365 tenant is being blocked by the tenant's policies or account status. This is typically controlled by the organization's Microsoft 365 administrators rather than Microsoft support.

Before contacting the university, please try the following:

    • Sign in to the Microsoft 365 portal using your campus account and ensure you select Work or School account rather than a personal Microsoft account.
    • Try signing in using an InPrivate/Incognito browser window.
    • If you previously accessed the notebook from the OneNote desktop app, check whether the notebook is still available locally and export or back up any accessible content.
    • Try accessing OneNote directly through the web at OneNote Online.

If the issue still persists, this will likely require assistance from your university's IT department or Microsoft 365 administrator. They can verify whether your Microsoft 365 account has been disabled, restricted, or removed from the university tenant, and whether temporary access can be restored so you can retrieve your OneNote notebooks.

    • If you haven’t yet reached out, here’s a helpful guide to locate your Microsoft 365 administrator: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support
    • Here are some key points to keep in mind: You start by contacting the person who originally provided your account, such as a teacher, school administrator, or IT support staff. If unsure who to reach out to, begin with a teacher or staff member you regularly interact with; they can assist or direct you to the right department. Additionally, use your school’s helpdesk portal, support email, or tech support channel for assistance.

Since your notes are important, I recommend contacting the BUPT IT support team as soon as possible and explaining that you only need temporary access to export your OneNote data.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to reply if you need any further assistance.

Thank you and I wish you a great day!
