A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Hello @SBM
I understand from your message that you were using OneDrive in the browser, then opened the app version to download files, and noticed that the file list did not match. After that, the browser version updated itself with an older copy of your file, which means you lost a year’s worth of work.
Sometimes this kind of situation can happen because of how OneDrive synchronizes files between the cloud and local versions.
In this case, i will share a few simple steps you can try to double‑check what might be happening on your end.
1/ Check Version History
Go to OneDrive in your browser.
Right‑click the file that reverted.Select “Version history” from the menu (usually near the bottom).
This will show older and newer versions.
The goal is to see if your recent work is still stored as a version you can restore.
2/ Look in the Recycle Bin
On the left side of OneDrive online, select “Recycle bin.”
Sometimes newer versions are moved here when replaced.
If you find your file, you can restore it.
3/ Check OneDrive App Sync Status
On your computer, open the OneDrive app.
In the system tray (bottom‑right corner), click the OneDrive cloud icon.
Look for any sync warnings or paused sync messages.
This helps confirm if the app overwrote the browser version.
4/ Restore OneDrive to a Previous Date
In OneDrive online, click the gear icon (top‑right corner).
Choose “Restore your OneDrive.”
You can select a date before the file reverted.
This restores the entire OneDrive to that point in time.
If the issue still remains after trying all the steps above, please share a screenshot or provide more detailed information. I will check the situation and continue to support you.
Kind regards,
