outlook app lost connection to Gmail account and efforts to add it back fail

Did restart PC, same issue, when I try to add it gets through the permissions but not to actual sign in page. I can still access via web browser, do it is just the outlook app on desktop. Yes I think have 2 step verification on, but does not pull up prompt on phone at this time

Thanks. Since Gmail works in the browser and you can reach the permission screen, the saved connection in New Outlook may be stuck.

Please try these steps:

• Open your Google Account in a browser.
• Go to Security > Your connections to third-party apps and services.
• Find Microsoft apps and services and remove its access.
• Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Outlook (new) > Advanced options.
• Select Repair. If that does not help, select Reset.
• Reopen Outlook and add the Gmail account again using the Google option.

The phone prompt may not appear if Google already recognizes the browser session.

After you select Allow on the Google permission page, does the window close, stay blank, or show an error? Is this a personal Gmail account or a work/school Google Workspace account?

I reset, was able to add yahoo back to outlook app, but Gmail says timestamp":Error":"INVALIDCREDENTIALS TEMPORARILYUNAVAILABLE"}

Thanks. That error appears to be from the connection between New Outlook and Google, rather than an incorrect Gmail password.

Please check your Google Account under Security > Your connections to third-party apps and services. If Microsoft apps and services is still listed, remove it. Then wait a while before adding Gmail again and select Google as the account type.

Avoid repeated attempts for now, as this can temporarily delay further sign-ins. An app password should not normally be needed because New Outlook uses Google’s permission sign-in.

Is this a regular @gmail.com account or a Google Workspace account? Also, do you have another Gmail account you can temporarily test in Outlook?
