I am having problems with adding Copilot to my Outlook. It works on Word and on my desktop, but it won't add to Outlook. Is there a fix for this? I'm running Windows 10 and my laptop does not support Windows 11.

Try these checks in order on Windows 10:

    1. Confirm the signed-in account has the Copilot license In a Microsoft 365 app, make sure the primary account signed in at the top of the app is the one that has Copilot access.
    2. Refresh the Microsoft 365 license In any Microsoft 365 app, go to File > Account > Update License. Then close and restart all Microsoft 365 apps.
    3. Check Outlook privacy settings / connected experiences Copilot in Outlook requires connected experiences to be enabled. In a Microsoft 365 app, go to File > Account. Under Account Privacy, select Manage Settings. Make sure these are turned on:
      • Experiences that analyze your content
      • All connected experiences
    4. Check the Microsoft 365 update channel If the device is on Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel, Copilot features are not available in the desktop apps. Copilot requires Current Channel or Monthly Enterprise Channel. To check:
      • Open a Microsoft 365 app
      • Go to File > Account
      • Look under Product Information If it shows Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel, use the web version of Outlook or have IT move the device to a supported channel.
    5. Make sure Office is fully updated Copilot availability depends on being on the latest build.
    6. If using Outlook with multiple accounts, verify the correct account is connected Copilot in Outlook is available when signed in with an account that has Copilot access. In supported Outlook apps, that access can extend to connected accounts on the same device.
    7. Important Outlook-specific note One support article says Copilot sharing across accounts is not available in classic Outlook for Windows, while another article says the Copilot chat experience is now in classic Outlook for Windows. If the missing feature is specifically the full Copilot experience in classic Outlook, use new Outlook for Windows or Outlook on the web to verify whether Copilot appears there.

If Copilot appears in Word but not Outlook, the most likely causes from the documented steps are:

    • wrong signed-in account in Outlook
    • license not refreshed
    • connected experiences turned off
    • unsupported update channel
    • using an Outlook client where the specific Copilot feature is not available
